Single Supplement: 6 reasons it bothers women more than men
The most discussed issue for women travelers is still the penal single supplement. Overseas hotels charge by the room, not by the person meaning that one person in a room costs double what two persons would pay.
Why is it that men do not complain as much as we do about paying more?
1-First and foremost, we earn less!
2-Women nest more in their room, meaning the actual ambiance is more important to us.
3-We like our ‘toilette’ time, time to clean up and look fresh so the amenities talk to us.… -
Solo Travel and Award Winning Tour of India for Women
The benefits of being a solo traveler within a group are many. India especially calls for travel pals. Let’s remind all of you that SITA our partners have been called Best for India Tours.
## The costs are divided up amongst the group. Analyses of group travel prices prove that again and again. Check out the cost of a private guide for the Taj Mahal versus a guide for a small group of women?
## You have company when you want and can do your own thing when you want.… -
Unpacking from Argentina; Ready for India
What a let down to be home from our 12 day Argentina tour. A great group of women joined me starting in Parisian like Buenos Aires then the high Andes and Iguazu Falls. Wine Wine Wine…..and none of it Whine.
Efficient unpacking:
1- dump the laundry
2- put all paperwork, receipts, etc in a ziplock bag.
3-replace unused travel pills back in another zip lock with a code so you know which is which pill.
4-lock up your passport
5-check your online credit card accounts to ensure all is safe and sound.… -
Murder on a Women's Tour
Here are ‘reasonable reasons’ for combat: and we hope you agree with them. If not let us know by posting here.
Whining: Solve any issue immediately even if it seems insgnificant. You will be surprised at how flexible The Women’s Travel Group can be. However everyone gets one day to whine…. maybe just a little. After jet lag, for instance on our India trip, everyone will be tired, go with it.
Regretting: If you wanted to buy something or think you overpaid for it, move on.… -
Snooze: how to get through the long flight to Argentina!
The Women’s Travel Group goes to Argentina today.
Hour 1 Read heavy-duty stuff you have been avoiding then throw out the magazines. My heavy-duty is The New York Review of Books.
Hour 2 Bring junk literature you love but are ashamed to buy. Like the female version of drinking from a brown paper bag. Movie Star gossip is the best here.
Hour 3 Eat as slowly as possible, finishing with your airplane treat. If you plan to drink alcohol, add in lots of water also. … -
Do Women Buy New Clothes for Vacation?
Unfortunately, we do. Anticipation for your vacation often means shopping, even if just for a new tee shirt or other. Why do we do this?
Some are women coming solo and they want to make an impression- who even notices? Others feel that shopping pre-trip is part of the fantasy of travel. Shopping starts the actual trip experience as we dream and anticipate. Heh, Ladies!!!!
Here is what we should really be doing!

Ten Ways to Get in Trouble on Vacation
Ten Ways To Get in Trouble on Your Vacation
From The Women’s Travel Group
You wear jewelry even gold-colored costume jewelry.
You do not put our IPad in a bigger bag in airport security.
You do not empty your wallet of a department store and other credit cards useless overseas.
You leave your valuables near your airline seat when you use the facilities.
You wear clothing or large baggage tags, which identifies you to strangers (football team hat?)
You let your guard down in places that feel safe like museums or private galleries.…

Free E-Guidebooks for E-Idiots
I think I finally ‘got’ the NY Public Library e-system. The system is hard to decipher; worse, when you think you have the book and download it, it goes into cyberspace whatever that means. In regular language, here is How to Download a Guidebook (or any book) from the New York Public Library to your IPad and iPhone.
a-Make sure you have an active Amazon account.
b-Download Kindle Cloud Reader Application onto your Ipad and iPhone directly from Amazon. Don’t worry about what an application is, just download it and your device will be able to accept e-books.… -
Falls with Water not Bruises
I am about to see my fourth major waterfall in August with our tour to Argentina.
Here is the list so far:Victoria Falls and make sure you have time,as there is also game viewing in that area.
Angel Falls in a remote area of Venezuela, but this magnificent territory is no longer easy to visit. We did a group tour there years ago–a million acres of rain forest.
Blue Nile Falls is in Ethiopia and our group visited in March of this year.…
