• Is Godzilla Your Travel Mate?

Many women want to save money by sharing a room on a Women’s Travel Group tour. However, they fear the imagined consequences. Here are some situations and how women solved them:

A woman talked non stop. Her share elegantly said: I am a very quiet person and I live alone in a very quiet apartment. She got the idea and stopped.

Another lady hogged the bathroom counter. Just  move the stuff and create a fair division. Duh.

One of my shares broke her foot and needed constant help. …

  • Losing Weight in Paris

    Euros stay low please

Why is it that the French are thinner than Americans, but enjoy wine, cheese, butter, bread? (In case you did not know, I was was a Vice President at a major French bank for 2 years and on many occasions ate with my colleagues. Yes they also dieted, but they eat differently from us).

If you plan to join us to Paris for The Holidays, here is why you will return home thinner and not hungry:

French food is richer making a smaller portion satisfying.…

  • Single Hotel Room Problems for Women

Single Hotel Room Problems for Women

The big issue with single rooms on tours is the cost. European hotel charge by the room not by the person, making one in a room double price. Some solo women on The Women’s Travel Group trips complain about costs which hotels impose on us. We try to help solo travelers by arranging shares. On India we guarantee them by the way: Nov 11-22 still taking reservations.

Sharing a room can be comfortable. The biggest worry is female idea that we are ‘hostesses’ and need to be chatty when we want quiet time in the room. …

$200 in India is a huge savings if you combo it with a guaranteed room share on the perfect trip. We found that women want a higher level of accommodation than some other tours offer and fine tuning on a daily basis. Why?

We are not kids anymore and understand that comfort at night is key to enjoyment during the day.
—Yes, we want top notch bathrooms.
—We need large rooms for our stuff and eye sight, and —Why not have a comfy reading chair and extra lighting?…

  • Your Worst Travel Companion

How will you know if a friend will make a good travel companion? For short periods of time we are all on our good behavior.  For a week or two, who knows?

Five red flags to look for:

    Always sees the empty glass.

Is opinionated on things they know little about.

    Is inflexible.

Uses the word ‘I’ all the time.

    Is a great fashionista.

Going in a group with other women, helps dilute your friend out, but why do we even have these five

    red flags?…

  • Surprising choices at Canyon Ranch Mass.

It is sometimes difficult to describe profound personal experiences. Canyon Ranch, the gold star of ultra luxury, has places left for our discount weekend, beginning July 23. This is a the treat we all deserve, but how does one describe it?

Here are some of the unusual topics discussed at Canyon Ranch:

Working with your genes:know your heredity assets.

30 days to a better brain.

Synching your new Canyon Ranch routine to a Fitbit.

  • The Best Nail Biting 1st Trip-Ireland

Your first nail biting trip without friends/family.Ireland

Your first trip by yourself should be chosen carefully. Here is why Ireland is the best first trip with The Women’s Travel Group.

Short direct to Dublin flight, less travel fatigue and less initial angst which effects all of us but more, if this is your first solo trip. A little over 6 hours from JFK makes Ireland our closest neighbor besides Portugal.

English speaking, with a lilt and a smile. Obviously this means instructions from airport staff, hotel concierges, wait staff, taxi drivers are in your language.…

    alessigroup

This is the 2014 Tuscany Cooking Group, soon off again to Pisa for our week of fun. Stay tuned for next year’s date.

Many of The Women’s Travel Group trips are arranged so solo women can easily connect with the group if not flying with a friend or one of us. March 8 produced another terrific article about Rome where we start our Sweep Through Italy trip April 29-May 10 2015.

Yes, some women will arrive in Rome a day or two before the group, so here goes some of the newer Rome sights: MAXXI by Zaha Hadid, where the building even moves as you do, slanted floors and art made from lights/string/google users and more.…

Excuses Friends Use NOT to Travel

    “Have to think about it”.

    “Cannot decide now”.

“Want to get a frequent flyer mile ticket”.

    “Might need a procedure?

“My family doesn’t think I should go”.

But here is what women are actually thinking:

“I am afraid to go alone, even in a group”.

“I am shy and not good around new people.”

“I used to travel with my husband/best friend/partner and he passed away”.…

Who isn’t at least a bit nervous when solo traveling? Even vets like myself from The Women’s Travel Group are more on edge when alone. You have to be watch your valuables, scan streets and be responsible for your movements. Compound this with the fact that women are statistically poor sleepers, worse in hotels than at home.…
