Why Hotel Rooms Frighten Women
On a first solo trip many of us are scared in the hotel room. The Women’s Travel Group (www.thewomenstravelgroup.com) hears that from its members. We might be veteran travelers, but we are not veteran single occupiers. Can we order room service and calmly open the door? Is the lock working? Who in the hotel knows we are alone? What if we get sick? If the alarm clock malfunctions? If we fall in the shower?…

Single Hotel Room Problems for Women
The big issue with single rooms on tours is the cost. European hotel charge by the room not by the person, making one in a room double price. Some solo women on The Women’s Travel Group trips complain about costs which hotels impose on us. We try to help solo travelers by arranging shares. On India we guarantee them by the way: Nov 11-22 still taking reservations.
Sharing a room can be comfortable. The biggest worry is female idea that we are ‘hostesses’ and need to be chatty when we want quiet time in the room. …

A Christmas Paris for non Catholics?
Certain countries are ideal for singles at Christmas; others, lonely. London for instance has a 2-4 day quiet time when Christmas/Boxing Day/Weekends fall together. Paris, on the other hand, is sparklingly alive. Below is only some of what we will do, in our Women’s Travel Group tour to Paris for Christmas. Come Solo. Don’t mope at home
Paris has the most glorious Christmas trees in both stores and public spaces, 19c carousels, skating rinks, and lighted icons like the Eiffel tower and The Louvre.Stop…

Who we are: The Women's Travel Group
Some of our Facebook friends have not been ‘properly’ introduced to The Women’s Travel Group. Well here goes: Phyllis Stoller founded the Women’s Travel Club in 1992 because she had 5 weeks vacation and her husband had 2. She had been a corporate banker with the time and $ to use the vacation but could not find friends to share it.
The original Club took off amazingly fast, first with local women who felt the same way but had no way to meet each other.…

Ultra Italy: See it Right
Why do most tours seem so short and airfares so expensive? Tours are short because Americans do not take vacations they deserve. Airfares are expensive because fuel surcharges remain high though fuel is low. (Fuel surcharges have been renamed: “international fees”; how annoying is that?)
Italy is a lot more than Rome and Tuscany. Each corner of the peninsula has its surprises. Or like Naples its reputation. (Yes we include Naples!!) Naples is an open air museum due to the many statues and fascinating buildings; it is not just a jumping off point for Pompeii and Amalfi Coast.…

Share left on Cote D'Azur
Our policy at The Women’s Travel Group is to offer share guarantees on our trips; if someone is not matched, they often get a no supplement single. What is the worst that can happen if you share?
1- You might find out you are the messier packer?
2- You might learn about new expensive habits that will cost you; that is how I learned about $$$ Frederic Fekkai hair products from travel mate.
3- You might have to ask for a second room key?…

Indecisive friends: URGHHH
The photo is of a mansion in India where we stopped for a buffet lunch.
Words of truth from The Women’s Travel Group.
Here are the most common excuses friends use for avoiding your invitation to travel:
Number 1 ‘Let me think about it’. (time frame is ‘never’)
Number 2 ‘Let me try to get an ff ticket’. (that puts worth on you, your friendship is worth 50,000 miles or $550.)
Number 3 ‘My family doesn’t want me to go’. …

Tours: A Pace or Race
Will you feel rushed or will you feel bored on your next trip? How often can you stay behind for a day off? What happens if you cannot do all of the walking? When you join a group tour, you are also agreeing to a pace which might not be of your choosing.
Here are a few ways to figure out if the trip is too fast or too leisurely for you. First of all ask the operator: we at The Women’s Travel Group want you to know all details up front and we encourage questions.…

Private women's trips
Did you know that The Women’s Travel Group can organize travel for your organization or group of friends? We do this all the time. If you see a trip you adore and want us to replicate it for your group, ask for a quote. An example is The Cote D’Azur, south of France trip for the Transition Network. TTN is a national organization of women over 50 and with them we choose the itinerary. Art,history, food, markets in Nice, Avignon, St Paul de Vence, San Remo-Italy, and Monaco.…

Jet lag and benefits for The Women's Travel Group
Getting up at 4 each morning after our wonderful Sicily trip has its advantages. Between 4-11 you get every chore done with no interruptions. Better yet, you can converse with new travel friends on email as the rest of the group is probably up also!
Don’t fight it, it usually takes an hour a day to evaporate. Taking sleeping pills and/or Melatonin might seem to help but the real segue is lots of water, and just go to sleep at 8/9 get your mighty 8 hours and get up when you have to.…
